Why We Built SkySearch
Bluesky is a next-generation social network built on an open protocol (AT Protocol). Many users are migrating to it as an alternative to Twitter/X.
However, Bluesky's search ecosystem is still maturing. Needs like "I want to browse a user's past posts," "I want to find popular posts," or "I want to analyze post data" aren't fully met by the official app alone.
SkySearch was created to bridge that gap and make the Bluesky ecosystem more useful.
What is Bluesky?
Bluesky is a decentralized social network backed by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter (now X). It's built on an open protocol called the AT Protocol (Authenticated Transfer Protocol), which offers:
- Decentralization: An open network not controlled by any single company
- Algorithm choice: Users can freely customize their feeds
- Data portability: Ability to migrate your data to other services
- Open API: Developers can freely build applications
SkySearch takes advantage of this open ecosystem to provide a free search service.
